Top 5 Tips for Alibi CMS – Make Vigilant System Setup and Management Easier!

When you buy an Alibi system, you get access to free management software called the Alibi CMS (ACMS). It makes setup, management and maintenance of cameras and recorders easy. BUT we have found that many of our dealers don’t take the time to learn how to maximize the benefits of the ACMS. So our Director of Product and Solutions Training, Tim Sawyer, has put together this quick video to help you understand the top five tricks for leveraging this powerful software suite to more effectively setup and manage your customers systems. Additionally, your techs should be sharing this software with your customers and teaching them some of the basics to reduce service calls.

The Alibi Vigilant Mobile app allows vigilant users to have direct access to what their cameras see with Live View. Users can swipe right or left to view the next or previous camera. Users can use the Pinch to Zoom feature to zoom in on a specific spot or instance that camera is capturing, as well as tap, hold, and drag the image around while zoomed in. Users can double tap to return to the full image. Alibi Vigilant users can also change the grid layout by using the images button. You can view up to 16 cameras at once, but if you have more than 16, you can swipe left to access to the remaining cameras. Opening your Alibi Vigilant Mobile app directly within the Live View section, users can select the playback button for a specific camera. From there, users can slide the timeline left or right to navigate recorded footage. If you are searching for a specific date or time, simply select the search button and access available dates that are marked with a blue dot.

Users can alter the quality of the playback video by selecting the Quality button and adjusting. Users can also adjust the speed, slowing down or speeding up a video with the Speed option.

The Snapshot button allows users to capture a still image of the playback. Use the record button to capture a video clip of the playback.

The Split option allows users to display still images of the current playback video in four or nine windows over a span of two hours.

Alibi Vigilant Mobile - How To - Exporting/Saving Footage

The export process is the same for both Live View or Playback. Users will need to open their menu and select ‘Live View’ to start. While Live View is in progress, select the Snapshot icon to capture a still image. Users will receive a notification that a snapshot has been taken.

To record a live feed, select the Record icon. Users will receive an additional notification that recording has started. To stop recording, simply select the Record icon again. You will receive a notification that the Recording has been saved.

To view Pictures and Video, select the menu icon, and click Picture and Video. Select the media you would like to view and select Share to share the video. Users can also save pictures and video to their photo album by selecting the Export icon.

Users can also delete excess pictures and video from the Vigilant Mobile App album by selecting the Delete icon.

Alibi Vigilant Mobile - How To - Enabling Notifications

To enable push notifications straight to your mobile device, simply open the Alibi Vigilant Mobile App menu and select Alarm Notifications, then select Allow Notifications. Users can toggle which devices they would like to receive notifications for within Advanced Settings.

Mobile App users can also create a time schedule for notifications within the Time tab, with the default setting being 24/7. Within the Type tab, users can select what type of notifications they would like to receive. Save your changes with the disk icon.

When you receive a notification, tap it to open, and select Playback to view the clip. Users can also manage their notifications within the Edit button.

Alibi Vigilant Mobile - How To - Adding Favorites

Users can open the Vigilant Mobile App, select ‘Menu’ and then select ‘Favorites’. Users can then select the + button to add a new favorite camera to their favorites section. Feel free to enter a name for the favorite for easy sorting. You can select cameras from the same device or mix and match from multiple devices as well. Select ‘Save’ to confirm the selection.

Users can then select the three dots at the top right to open their options menu. Use these options to Start Live View, Edit, Rename, or Delete a specific favorite option. Once cameras start, utilize the Live View as normal.

Alibi Vigilant Mobile - How To - System Health Notifications

Check out this Alibi Vigilant Mobile app how-to video on everything you need to know about Alibi Vigilant settings over Health Notifications. Ensure that notifications are enabled for your device within your device settings.

Users can open the Alibi Vigilant Mobile app and open their menu, then select ‘Alarm Notifications’, and select ‘Allow Notifications’. Select ‘Advanced Settings’ and then select your NVR from the list. You’ll know your NVR is selected by a blue check mark to the right. Select the ‘Type’ tab, then enable ‘Health’ under the list of options. Health notifications have now been enabled!

Alibi Vigilant Mobile - How To - Configuring Motion Grids

To adjust your Motion Grid settings, open the Alibi Vigilant Mobile App and select the desired camera. Then select ‘Device Config.’ and then select ‘General Detection’. Select ‘Motion Detection’ and then ‘Detection Area’. Use the controls on the right side of the screen to clear, add, or remove the motion detection grid. Use the ‘Clear All’ option to remove all detection areas. Use the ‘Add’ option to add detection segments, users can also use the ‘Erase’ option to remove detection segments.

Select the ‘Confirm Checkmark’ to save motion grid settings for your camera. Users can also set a detection time, and adjust the sensitivity for the motion detection within the app.

To adjust your image settings, open the Vigilant Mobile App and select the desired camera. Select the ‘Image Settings’ icon. The lower bar contains the image adjustment settings you need, swipe left or right to view more image options. Users can select the ‘Reset’ button to restore image settings back to their default settings if desired.

Users can open up the Vigilant Mobile app and select the PTZ camera of their choice with the ‘PTZ’ option. Tap and hold the on screen arrows to move your PTZ camera, users can also use the zoom option to enable zoom controls.

Users can also use the ‘Focus’ option to enable focus controls, tap the Focus option once more to close out of Focus controls. To add a Preset, move the camera to the desired position and select the ‘Add a Preset’ option. To call a preset, tap the ‘Manage Presets’ option. Select the desired preset and tap ‘Go to Preset’. To manage presets, select the ‘Manage Presets’ button, select ‘Edit’, and use the ‘Delete’ icon to remove a preset.
